Our Thanksgiving trip to Italy ended perfectly with a one-night stay at Hotel Calimala Milano. The location is incredibly convenient, especially being so close to the train station.

The staff truly made the experience exceptional—they were super nice, friendly, and went out of their way to help us check in early. A lovely surprise was the complimentary minibar and welcome drinks, a welcome change from other hotels!

The room was spotless, well-appointed, and had fantastic quality. We especially loved the incredibly soft and warm slippers—a small detail that felt luxurious.

For a short, convenient, and wonderfully welcoming stay in Milan, I highly recommend Hotel Calimala!

We booked two rooms for a long weekend in Milan and had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Calimala. The neighborhood is lively, with plenty of great shops, restaurants, and bars nearby. The street can be very noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. It adds to the atmosphere, but it did keep me awake until late. I initially had a first-floor room facing the street, which was quite loud, but the staff kindly moved me to another room after the first night. Service was excellent throughout, from the front desk to the restaurant and housekeeping team.

The perfect beginning for our Italy family trip!
We were a family of 4, stayed at Hotel Calimala in Milan, and it was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. we arrived late night and had a swift check in and they helped us with the luggage, and even were nice to the kids. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. the breakfast was super rich and tasty, even small touches for the kids that made them feel special. We got a free complementary drink at the bar which made the kids feel like ground ups.

Our room was clean, spotless and brand new. The beds were super comfortable, even the open sofa that the kids slept on was super pleasant.

The location is ideal — right in the center of Milan, in walking distance, just outside the ZTL zone so I could also pick up the family when we left.
Its close to some great restaurants, espacially a near by pizzeria window.

We truly felt cared for and comfortable throughout our stay. Highly recommend this hotel for couples and families looking for a mix of comfort, style, and genuine hospitality. We will for sure come back.

A really nice hotel in a great location. The design is very nice and the staff are very competent and very friendly. The neighborhood is fabulous! Via Melzo is a very lively street packed with all sorts of of bars, cafes and restaurants, mainly filled with locals but very friendly to overseas visitors. It’s a very nice walk to the center of Milano and the subway is very close too. I have stayed in at least 10 different places in Milano and this is my favorite by far.

We had a great weekend at the hotel. The service is incredible the staff are attentive 24/7 with smile and great attitude. We had a room with balcony to the inner courtyard so we didn’t hear any street noise. The neighborhood is fantastic with cafes, bars small shops and all you need for city break. The metro is 5 minutes walk and the tram is 5 minutes walk to take you to Navigly.

location is great, the "porta venezia" zone is really cool, and the hotel perfectly blend with it. the atmosphere is joung and stylish, the rooms are fresh and luminous, all clean. |the noise level is great for a good sleep, and the amenities are cool, with a view on the city and privacy at the same time. |last but not least, the service, at the front desk expecially, is great and make you feel like you can count on them to satisfied your needs on the stay. ||i hope to come back soon.

Perfect stay! This hotel was easily the best-operated hotel in our recent Italy/France travel. Immediately greeted by a warm, confident, capable staff that met our every need. Comfortable in every way and very well located. Breakfast on-site was excellent, with very attentive service and great options. We understand that this is a newer hotel, but this is already a gem.

I really wanted to like this hotel, but there were just too many glitches in the room experience for me to fully enjoy my stay. I was genuinely looking forward to Hotel Calimala — it’s new, the reviews were great, and the photos looked beautiful and very signature of Milan design.

The rooftop pool looked great, but it was closed for the season (I stayed in early November). While this is understandable, there was no prior communication about the closure — I definitely wouldn’t have packed swimsuits had I known. The gym was also quite small with limited equipment, though this wasn’t a major issue for me.

The problems began with the room itself.
First, the phone in my room didn’t work on the first night. It was fixed the next morning, and I appreciate the prompt response, but it’s disappointing to arrive to a room with something essential already malfunctioning.

Second, the heating in the room was extremely weak for the weather, and I actually caught a cold during my stay. After the first night, I reported the issue and a technician came quickly, but he explained that the hotel has an upper temperature limit. Unfortunately, that limit simply wasn’t warm enough — I woke up cold and not feeling well throughout my stay.

Lastly, there was a loud hammering noise (similar to a dryer running) coming from the bathroom one evening, which lasted about ten minutes before stopping on its own.

Overall, the number of issues in my room really distracted me from what could have been a great stay. Without these problems, I would’ve happily returned on my next visit to Milan — because the hotel itself has a lot of potential: the location is great, the staff is friendly, and the design is great. It’s a shame the room experience didn’t match the rest.
